I Have Written Another Story.

This one is an odd one. An idea I had first come up with like 6 years ago. I didn’t think it would end up the way it did. I especially didn’t think that as I was writing it it would become apparent that the two characters in it were not actually speaking to each other, although they were.

I posted it at Eka’s Portal and at the Disturbed Thing’s forum. Later I will be posting on my site.

I Am Become An Unbridled, Unstoppable Creature Of Hatred And Destruction

Actually, I just like that phrase 🙂 My latest gaming obsession has been “Two Worlds”, by Reality Pump*, a European game company. Toward the end of the game, my character was just unstoppable. A killing machine. It became my catchphrase- I was an unbridled, unstoppable creature of hatred and destruction.

Since I beat the game, I have uninstalled it and am now looking for my next gaming obsession.

*Fuck, this game rulez. If you play computer RPG’s at all, get this game. The graphics are better than anything  you have seen, the storyline is fascinating and compelling, the ending is way cool… Man.

I Have 3 Wonderful Children- And Am Pro-Choice

I know I’ve really gotten into linking to other sites and pages. I hope you (whoever “you” are that is reading this) actually goes to those pages and reads the article/page/”whatevva!”. It’s worth it. Anyways, todays link is a good musing on between what the anti-abortion crowd SAYS and what the anti-abortion crowd DOES. It’s a good read. Read it. I think some snakes eat some women in it. I could be wrong about that.

Things To Be Depressed About (And Vice Versa)

The power supply on my main comp died. Went to meet it’s maker. Well, it didn’t get shipped to a factory, but it DID die. Things got smelly in the sewing/computer room, like electronical stuff getting hot and burning then POOF, computer shut down and not work any more.

My jerk brother-in-law and my nephew took a look at it and said, yups, power supply is dead. They believe that ONLY the power supply is dead, so things SHOULD work fine when I get the replacement power supply. $110. In 2 more days. Then I have to get my slower-than-molasses-in-January jerk brother-in-law to put the power-supply IN. Sigh.

That’s the thing to be depressed about #1. #2 is the fact that all my latest writing is on the hard drives of the machine that is not working, so… all my new stuff is currently unavailable. Sigh.

TTBDA #3 is that my win98 machine has a dying c: drive, so it won’t boot any more, and I have a TON of stuff on that drive I don’t want to lose. Sigh.

However, I am writing right now on my #3 machine, a winxp backup machine. Comp #4 is a 166 mghz machine, but I have to work with that machine- right now it doesn’t  recognise the cd drive.

Sigh.

This gives me a greater appreciation of Google Docs And Spreadsheets, I tell you. If I HAD been using GD&S I would still be able to be writing those stories I had started, rather than being all sad and depressed about it. I tell you, I think this internet business is going to be something, and we should keep an eye on Google. I think they’re gonna be something one day.

Well, but, fuck. Anyway, my latest internet obsession is Cute With Chris. He’s a man doing a twice weekly videoblog, and he has a TOTAL excess of snark. I think he’s also totally gay tho, which is too bad- he’s rilly cute, and the snark is a COMPLETE turn-on for me 🙂

Anyway. I’ve been listening to eclectic music again, and those lyrics above are from the song “freeze frame”, off the album “freeze frame” (1979, well before the J. Geils Band’s song), by Kevin Godley and Lol Creme. They did good stuff. I likes it.

Oh, and 99% of the objectivism espoused in the Sword of Truth novels is about the good parts 🙂  The invidual must be free; to live for someone else other than yourself is the same as slavery; to live up to others expectations, rather than your own, is to be untrue to yourself; taking from people “for the common good” without recompense is evil; various and sundry.  No ulitarianism. THAT is considered a great evil in the Sword of Truth novels- the main character does kill, but he only kills to stop further killing- in fact, the before-named Sword of Truth will not allow him to kill any but those who are evil… well, he can, but only after he is able to love and forgive those same people. Which is pretty damned rare, understandably.

The Sword Of Truth And Objectivism

Back in about 1997 or so, I was clued in to the book “Wizard’s First Rule” by Terry Goodkind. Since then, it’s grown from one great book to a great SERIES. Anyways, as I read the series, it started to appear to be that a central theme of the series was the same philosophy of that of Ayn Rand (Atlas Shrugged, The Fountainhead, et. al.), ‘Objectivism‘. It seemed to be  true. I rilly can’t summarise objectivism or any other tenet of Ayn Rand’s beliefs, but leave it at the fact I was a big believer in objectivism when I was younger 🙂

Well, I’ve visited the Terry Goodkind website before, bt it was only THIS time I noticed in his links section the fact that he links to Ayn Rand’s online stuff (not that she did anything- she daid, Hubert). And there was my proof that my hypothesis was correct.

Not that there’s anything WRONG with that- it’s just that sometimes he seems to be writing an objectivism screed rather than a fantasy series where  objectivism is relevant.

Anyway, get all the books in the Sword of Truth series. Wonderful stuff!!

More Cat Information

I realized that while you probably don’t care, I haven’t talked about my cat lately 🙂 He’s about 2 months old now, I think. Maybe 2 1/2. He ain’t a kitten no more 🙂 Both his parents were over 30 pounds each, and they were not fat. Already he is a cat, and not a kitten. And Rudy thought that Fluffy was a sissy name (it was 🙂 ), so I named him something much more masculine. Rygar. Rye(bread)-gahr. When said like a growl (be gutteral) Rrrrrrrr-I-garrrrrrrrr it sounds very barbarian like 🙂

And he’s a silly cat. We have 2 dogs now, and they treat him like a chew toy- pulling on his ears, the scruff of his neck, etc, growling and pouncing him. And you’d think this is scary, but when they try to stop, HE gets up and pounces THEM. And when I feed the dogs, Rygar usually tries to eat the dog food. Which is weird, because when I’m not looking, Le Doggie usually tries to eat the cat food!

But he’s a good kitty. I can’t forget my older kitties that are gone now (I can trace the kitties back 20 some odd years), but I can still love the new one without dishonoring their memories.
